This selection of miscellaneous music and studio mayhem features David's additional work on arrangements, orchestration, keyboard session work, tinkering, equipment testing, and studio re-mixes. Studio remixes are typically (unless otherwise noted), the result of testing new gear in the studio, audio, and mastering experiments, or simply for fun...driven by inspiration. STUDIO REMIXES ARE NOT COMMERCIAL RELEASES and are for demo purposes only, but we thought you might enjoy them just the same!

R U S H I N G W A T E R
This is a remix of Sting's hit "Rushing Water" from his "The Bridge" album. This features David on keyboards and additional percussion/drum machine programming. Note- the original album track has very limited to no keyboards.
This re-mix of Rushing Water was started as some in-house Plug-in testing and familiarity of the Wave's Abby Road Mastering Chain Plug-In in my Studio. I love the song (huge fan of Sting) and was so inspired and wanted to use it as my reference track. I couldn't help myself, to get the most of the mastering software I added keyboards and additional percussion/drum machine to the track to make a fun personal mix and further test software and plug-ins. Thus, the re-mixed version with keyboards of this hit from Sting. A fun experiment and remixed version. - D
Track Notes:
David Frederick - Keyboards & Drum Machine Programming

TIM AKERS & THE SMOKING SECTION ~ FAME
I am a HUGE fan of Time Akers & The Smoking Section! They are some of the finest musicians anywhere in the world and are based in Nashville. Just amazing musicians.
I love their version of Bowie's "Fame". Super freakin' funky. The horn arrangement alone is worth the price of admission! Well, as things go in Studio Mayhem, I was testing some new plug in's, set ups, and outboard gear so I decided to use this track as my reference and added some B3, Bari Sax Scoops (ala Doc-TOP) and some additional synth to see how the set up worked....pretty good! Check out my additions to Tim Akers and The Smoking Section's "FAME". - D
Track Notes:
David Frederick - Keyboards - Hammond B3, Steinberg Halion Brass (Bari Sax), and Steinberg Retrologue Synthesizer.
Recorded: Direct into Steinberg Cuebase, processed with Waves Abby Road Studio Rack and mastered with Waves Abby Road Mastering Chain.

THE BOTTOM 40 ~ ENGLISHMAN IN NY
Another amazing group of Nashville Musicians - The Bottom 40! Like Tim Akers and The Smoking Section, they are some of the finest musicians anywhere in the world.
As a huge fan of Sting (see above), I really loved The Bottom 40's version of "Englishman in New York" It's a great song in general and it's a great arrangement by Michael Whittaker with really sweet piano changes! Just a killer cover of this song. Great vocals, great Sax, great Guitar, etc. Awesome!
So again, in my Studio Mayhem, I was testing some new plug in's and settings in Cuebase, etc and wanted to use this track as my reference, I decided to add some B3 and Synth Pad's to see how the new set up worked....again, I think pretty good! Check out my humble additions to The Bottom 40's "Englishman in New York" - D

A rare opportunity for David to work with his daughter Hannah Frederick. This is David's arrangement of Paul Anka's "Put Your Head On My Shoulder" for a film project that ultimately didn't happen. Regardless, an amazing performance by Hannah and a powerful and unique arrangement of this classic.

DAVE FREDERICKS (David Frederick Sr.) ~ Stinger
My dad wrote this song back in the late sixties around the time I was born. He originally released it on his first album "Mr. Talent - Dave Fredericks" where he played the organ and my uncle Bruce played the drums. My dad reintroduced Stinger on "Arp's The ARP Family of Synthesizers" record where he used the Eminent Organ, ARP Pro Soloist, ARP Odyssey, and ARP 2600 with Cleve Posar on Drums.
I decided for fun and nostalgia to whip up a new 21st-century arrangement of my dad's song. I have also included the original Arp version which I remastered. Hope you did it! - D
Track Notes:
David Frederick - Keyboards - ARP 2600, Hammond B3, Steinberg Horns, Steinway Grand Piano, Roland Jupiter 8 (pads), Spitfire Audio Drums, and Kontakt Percussion.
Recorded: Direct into Steinberg Cuebase, processed with Waves Abby Road Studio Rack, and mastered with Waves Abby Road Mastering Chain.

This is a remix of BT's record-breaking hit "Somnambulist". This features David on additional keyboards and drum machine programming.
This re-mix of Somnambulist was again started as some in-house testing and familiarity with some new VST and Plug-in technology in my Studio. I loved the song and BT's amazing production and was incredibly inspired. As a result and again, I used this as a reference track and added additional keyboards, drum machine, and additional audio editing to the track to give it a different feel. Thus, the re-mixed version of this hit from BT. - D

Instruments used: Yamaha Motif XS8, Arp 2600, Hammond B3, Fender Rhoades Electric Piano, Minimoog, and Groove Agent.
